I have written many articles about studies that have been performed using hypnosis. Most studies focus on the success of the hypnosis and how it helped participants in a different way compared to more traditional approaches and treatments. Many studies mention that hypnosis is more cost effective in comparison to alternative methods, but details are not always discussed in the study.

In the journal Radiology, an article was published in 2002 about a study that focused on the cost-effectiveness of hypnosis and sedation. Harvard Medical School performed this cost analysis study in 1999. The purpose of the study was to compare the cost of sedation used during an outpatient procedure with that of the cost of sedation plus the use of hypnosis. Read more

Every day you’re exposed to more than 123 chemicals through your skin and mouth — the vast majority of which have never been screened for safety by the FDA! They’re even in your children’s personal care products.

After writing a series of articles on fasting, titled “The Miracle of Fasting”, the author remembered that Paul C. Bragg (1895 – 1976) published a book by the same title.  Eye gaze is critically important to humans, as social primates. Maybe that’s why illusions involving eyes are so compelling.

The eyes are the windows to the soul. This fact is why we ask people to look us in the eye and tell us the truth. Or why we get worried when someone gives us the evil eye or has a wandering eye. Our everyday language is full of expressions that refer to where people around us are looking. Particularly if they happen to be looking in our direction.  Read more

The "new biology" is challenging many long-held beliefs that affect us in the areas of psychology, physiology, and spirituality. As the quote below indicates, mind-over-matter was an idea advocated by Kabbalists of the 18th century, but it came to be regarded as a fantasy, a theory that received very negative reviews in "modern" times. Once DNA was discovered, genetic paradigms gained influence over every phase of our lives. When a large number of illnesses and disorders were blamed on genes inherited from parents, it provided an excuse for our distress. Read more

The use of acupuncture raises the odds of a successful in vitro fertilization by 65 percent, according to a study conducted by researchers from the University of Maryland Medical School and published in the British Medical Journal.

In vitro fertilization involves inserting a needle into a woman’s ovaries to retrieve her eggs, fertilizing them in a laboratory and then reimplanting them into her uterus. It is an intensive and costly process that does not always result in successful pregnancy. Read more
